This was painted through linen stretched over paper (with white and light blue added afterward), representing what is conveyed in translation. Even when loving the beauty of another culture, it’s only tracings of what would be understood with its original language and full history. Which then leads my mind to people around us, and how we can never know them outside our own perception. Everything is a translation through linen. The tracings are beautiful, though not the full picture.
